Hi, I'm Paulo Lai. For over 15 years, my job has been to build the backstage systems that make extreme engineering velocity safe.

I've spent my career building technical systems at scales where failure is not an option:

  • Google: Built the testing infrastructure for Google Drive and Google Maps Transit, enabling daily releases at planet-scale (100M+ users) while slashing production failures by 40%.
  • Commonwealth Bank: As the first Staff Quality Engineer, I built the bank's first on-demand test environments and automated checks for strict regulatory compliance across 8,000 engineers.
  • Healthcare AI (Reggie Health): Architected the privacy-first AI and automated code review frameworks required to move clinical voice agents from unreliable prototypes to safe production.
